Emily Dickinson has had a deep and profound influence on American poetry. Also known as the “Belle of Amherst“, she is ranked among the greatest poets in English literature and she is perhaps the most famous female poet. As well as Angelou is best known for her seven autobiographies, but she was also a prolific and successful poet. She was called “the black woman’s poet laureate”, and her poems have been called the anthems of African Americans. along with other infamous women like:
- Robert Hayden.
- Paul Laurence Dunbar.
- Derek Walcott.
- Claude McKay.
- Gwendolyn Brooks.
- Audre Lorde.
- Nikki Giovanni.
- Phillis Wheatley.
History. Among the first known female writers is Enheduanna; she is also the earliest known poet ever recorded. She was the High Priestess of the goddess Inanna and the moon god Nanna (Sin). She lived in the Sumerian city-state of Ur over 4,200 years ago. Even with the amount of women in this article there are thousands of African American poetess in this world. Well known or as I call ”city known”. Which means they are known from poetry spots to competing to sites like this promoting poetry for others to get them on the well known list. Poems:
My Word…….
I want to fight with one simple word
Carried on the wings of a colored bird
Showing there is still no justice to be found or heard
Patted down by non truth seekers it has all become blurred
True justice needs to be served stop the lies that you know is absurd
We’re all in this world but the venom of HATE continues to get stirred
I want to fight with one simple word
JUSTICE

STANDING…..
Standing under a rainbow truly feeling pained
For your Angel wings you have gained
Simply remembering the amazing life you had
I can’t even begin to be mad
Because I am just beyond sad
Standing under a rainbow truly feeling pained
For your Angel wings you have gained
You can finally rest
For you have fought and did your absolute Best
While many many tears still may fall
God said it was your time to come Home and you answered the Call
We shall gather to help each other stand tall
Celebrating your life and how you’ve BLESSED US ALL
STANDING under a rainbow truly feeling pained
For your Angel wings you have gained
